New Allegations Shake Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing friction between the White House and Congressional Democrats, Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) released a bombshell letter this week detailing previously undisclosed investigative documents. The records, stemming from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s now-defunct classified documents probe, allege that President Donald Trump may have leveraged national security secrets to benefit his private business interests.

The “Six-Person” Secret

According to the memo, which was authored by federal prosecutors in early 2023, investigators identified evidence that some of the materials hoarded at Mar-a-Lago and Bedminster were among the most sensitive in the U.S. arsenal.

  • Elite Access: At least one document was of such high classification that only six individuals in the entire U.S. government were authorized to view it.
  • Business Linkage: Prosecutors explicitly noted that certain classified records were “commingled” with Trump Organization business files, suggesting they were retained because they were “pertinent to certain business interests.”

The 2022 Plane Incident

The most striking detail in Raskin’s disclosure involves a June 2022 private flight to Trump’s golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey. The memo alleges:

  • Trump displayed a classified map to passengers on the aircraft who did not have security clearances.
  • The event was reportedly witnessed by Susie Wiles, then the CEO of Trump’s Super PAC and currently serving as the White House Chief of Staff.
  • Raskin has questioned whether the map related to military posture in the Middle East and if any foreign officials were privy to the information.

The White House Fires Back

The Trump administration has wasted no time in dismissing the memo as a desperate political maneuver. White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson characterized the allegations as “deranged lies” from a “pathetic” opposition.

“It’s 2026, and Democrats are still clinging to the ghost of Jack Smith and his discredited investigations. The American people moved past this two years ago,” Jackson stated.

Attorney General Pam Bondi has also come under fire from Raskin, who accuses the DOJ of a “cover-up” by continuing to suppress the full Volume II of Jack Smith’s final report. Bondi’s office maintains that the Department is strictly adhering to Judge Aileen Cannon’s permanent protective order, which bars the public release of Smith’s conclusions.

The Legal Gridlock

This new disclosure puts the spotlight back on the judicial battle over transparency. Judge Cannon’s ruling last month permanently blocked the release of the Special Counsel’s report, arguing it would unfairly prejudice individuals—including the President—who were never convicted at trial.

Raskin argues that the DOJ inadvertently included this “damning” memo in a recent batch of records provided to the House Judiciary Committee, effectively bypassing the gag order. He has demanded that the DOJ provide a full accounting of who accessed these materials by March 31, 2026.
